Privacy Policy

Summary
Overnewz is a local desktop application. It runs entirely on your computer. We operate no server that receives your data, we do not collect personal information, and we do not store the news content it displays. There is no account, no login, and no tracking.
1. What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email, location, device identifiers, or contact details.
- We do not run analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking pixels.
- We do not build a profile of you and do not sell or share any personal data — because we do not have any.
2. What stays on your device only
The app writes a small amount of operational data to your own computer. This never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Window settings — the overlay's position and size, so it reopens where you left it.
- Source cursors — short identifiers (e.g. the last-seen post ID per feed) so the app doesn't re-show items you've already seen. These are not personal data.
- A process-id (PID) file — used internally to avoid duplicate background pollers.
News items themselves are not saved to disk: each item is displayed briefly (approximately 25 seconds) and then discarded from memory. The app keeps no archive, history, or database of news content.
3. Network connections the app makes
To fetch news, the app connects directly from your device to third-party news sources and data providers (for example RSS feeds, public Telegram channels, a social-data API, and AI services used to summarize headlines). When it connects to those services:
- Those third parties may see standard request information such as your IP address, in the same way any app or browser that contacts them would.
- Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
- We do not receive, log, or store the contents of those connections on any server, because we operate no server in this data path.
We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sources or providers.
4. AI processing of headlines
To produce neutral, summarized headlines, the app sends the text of incoming news items (not any information about you) to a third-party AI provider for processing. Only the news text is sent; no personal data is included.
5. Children
Overnewz is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
6. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects data handling — for example adding accounts, payments, telemetry, or cloud features — we will update this policy and the in-app notice before that change takes effect.
