Getting started

The basics

What is Overnewz?

Overnewz is a desktop overlay that streams real-time, AI-summarized market news straight onto your screen. It floats on top of whatever you're already doing — your chart, your broker, your browser — so you never have to alt-tab into a separate terminal to see what's moving.

Who is it for?

Retail traders and anyone who wants headline-speed market news without paying for a $100+/month professional terminal. If you trade equities, macro, forex or crypto and want to react to news as it breaks, it's built for you.

Which operating systems are supported?

Windows only, for now. The overlay is a native Windows app. A macOS version isn't available yet — email support@overnewz.com if you'd want one and we'll factor it into the roadmap.

How do I install it?

Click Download, run the installer, and the app launches itself when it finishes. There's no account to create and nothing to configure — the overlay starts delivering news right away.

Windows shows a "Windows protected your PC" warning — is that safe?

Yes. The installer is code-signed under our name, but because Overnewz is a newer app, Windows SmartScreen sometimes shows a caution screen until enough people have installed it. Click More info → Run anyway to continue. The warning fades on its own as our download reputation builds.
Trial & pricing

The free trial and what it costs

Do I need a credit card to start the trial?

No. Download the app, run it, and you get 30 days of the full product — no card, no account, no email required. You only enter payment details if you decide to keep it after the trial.

How long is the free trial?

30 days, with every feature unlocked. No limited "lite" mode — you're using the complete product the whole time.

What happens when the trial ends?

The overlay stops delivering new headlines until you upgrade. When you're ready, click the Upgrade button in the overlay's header, pick a plan, and complete the Stripe checkout — it takes under a minute.

How much is it after the trial?

$5 per month. One plan, one price — no tiers, no "Pro" version locked behind another paywall, no upsells. See the pricing page for how that compares to the alternatives.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Once you're on Pro, the overlay's header shows a Manage Pro button — click it and Overnewz opens your secure Stripe billing portal, where you can cancel, change your card, or download invoices. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for — we don't cut you off mid-month.
How it works

Living on your desktop

How does the overlay behave on screen?

Cards slide in as news breaks and clear themselves after a few seconds. When there's nothing new, the overlay quietly disappears so it's never in your way — then reappears the instant the next headline lands. You can drag it anywhere, and it stays on top of your other windows.

Can I move it or hide it?

Yes. Drag it anywhere on any monitor, and use the global hotkey to show or hide the overlay instantly without leaving your chart. Its position is remembered between sessions.

What are the sentiment and sector tags?

Every headline is scored for market sentiment and tagged with the sector or asset it relates to, so you can tell at a glance whether something is bullish, bearish, and what it touches — without reading the full story first.

What's the live speaker card?

When a market-moving figure is speaking live — for example a US President at the White House — Overnewz pins a single card that updates in place with their latest quotes as they talk, instead of flooding you with a new card for every line. When they step away from the mic the card dims to an "off mic" state, then picks back up when they resume.
News & sources

Where the news comes from

Where does the news come from?

From a curated mix of financial newswires, official economic releases (central banks and government statistics agencies), and vetted real-time feeds. We prioritize primary sources and the fastest reliable carriers so you see moves as early as possible.

Why summarize the news instead of showing the full article?

When you're trading, you need the signal, not the whole story. Overnewz condenses each item to the part that matters — the number, the decision, the quote — so you can read it in the time it takes a card to appear. Summaries are AI-generated, so treat them as a fast heads-up, not a substitute for the primary source on anything you act on.

What markets does it cover?

US equities, macro and economic data, central banks, forex, commodities, and major crypto headlines — the news that tends to move broad markets, rather than deep coverage of a single ticker.
Privacy & billing

Your data and your payment

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no username, and no password. You download the app and start using it — the trial is tied to your device, not to an account you have to make.

What data do you collect?

As little as possible. We don't ask for your name or email to use the app, and we never see your trades, positions, or anything on your screen. If you subscribe, our payment processor collects your email and billing details to run the subscription. The full breakdown is in our privacy policy.

Who handles payment — is my card safe?

Payments run through Stripe, a PCI-compliant processor used by millions of businesses. Your card details go straight to Stripe — Overnewz never sees or stores them.

I have a billing or account problem. Who do I contact?

Email support@overnewz.com and we'll sort it out. Because there's a full 30-day free trial before you're charged anything, most billing questions are quick to resolve — and if something's genuinely wrong, we'll make it right.
